South Australia's Week of Ageing Well

South Australia’s Week of Ageing Well returns from 1 to 7 October this year, offering an important opportunity to celebrate, reflect and take action to support everybody to age well.

The Week recognises the diversity, strengths and contributions of South Australians of all ages, highlighting the vital role people play in shaping vibrant and inclusive communities. It’s a time to acknowledge not only the value of older people, but also the shared responsibility we all have in creating environments where everyone can thrive.

This year’s theme, Building Age Friendly, Connected Communities, encourages individuals, organisations and communities to focus on simple, everyday actions that strengthen connection and inclusion.

Small actions can make a big difference. A warm welcome, sharing helpful information, or checking in with someone can help people feel valued, visible and included. These moments of connection help strengthen the social fabric of our communities.

Connection is key to wellbeing. Staying connected to people, services and community life can help reduce social isolation and support people to remain safe, well and engaged as they age.

Hackham West Community Centre is hosting an Interegenerational Fun Day to celebrate on Friday 2nd October.

Tammy Arjuna will be kicking off the event at 10:45 am with some gentle, chair based exercises and movement.

At 12:00 pm we'll be entertianed by magician Scott Stunz, with an interactive magic show that is sure to be a hit for people of all ages.

And we'll finish off the event with a free afternoon tea

This is a great opportunity for people of all ages and generations to come together to enjoy activities and entertainment.
